I want to help other students

I’m excited to take part in the University of Newcastle’s Gifting Day because I know how much financial support can mean to a student.

As an international student studying at Newcastle, I’ve experienced first-hand how challenging it can be to manage the costs of studying away from home. Rent, food, transport and everyday expenses can quickly add up, and asking for financial support isn’t always easy. I’m actually looking for financial assistance myself this year, so I know how complicated and stressful the process can feel.

That’s one of the reasons I’d love to become a Gifting Day Ambassador. I want to help other students who might be going through the same thing and make sure they know that asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of.

I also think that financial difficulties shouldn’t prevent someone from studying, achieving their goals or making the most of their university experience. Sometimes, a scholarship or even a small amount of support can make a huge difference. It can mean being able to focus on your classes instead of constantly worrying about whether you can afford your next rent payment, groceries or transport.

Being an ambassador would also give me the opportunity to share my own experience as an international student and encourage others to support a cause that is genuinely important to me.

I know that university is about much more than getting a degree. It’s about having opportunities, meeting people, discovering new things and building your future. Every student should have the chance to experience that, regardless of their financial situation.

I’d love to help make Gifting Day more visible, encourage people to get involved and, hopefully, help Reach One More student who simply needs a little extra support to keep moving forward. 💙
