Shaping Futures Scholarships

The cost-of-living crisis continues to place enormous pressure on students. Rising rents, grocery prices and transport costs are forcing many to make impossible choices between meeting basic needs and continuing their education.
This year, there is only one Shaping Futures Scholarship available for every 13 student applications.

Shaping Futures Scholarships give students access to educational opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach because of financial hardship and disadvantage.

These scholarships provide $5,000 to help students cover essential costs like accommodation, food, transport and study materials, giving them the stability to focus on their education and their future.

But more than financial support, a scholarship tells a student that someone believes in them. It gives them confidence, hope and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

This Gifting Day you can help Reach One More future teacher, doctor, nurse, engineer, researcher or social worker who will go on to make a positive difference in our communities.

There is a lot of bullying associated with poverty. I always felt different from the other children at school. But when I got to University and received support to buy the things I needed for classes, I started feeling like ‘I belong’. I’ve never had that before.”

“I genuinely believe that the people who made my scholarship possible contributed to me becoming a teacher and my life now. It makes me emotional thinking about it. I can’t express my gratitude enough. It’s a great feeling to know someone believes in you.”

“I struggled in school, which was probably to do with having undiagnosed autism and attention deficit disorder. The main thing I want to do after I graduate is to make sure no student is left behind like I was. Every student deserves teachers who care about them. Thank you to the donors who made my scholarship possible.”

“Before receiving the scholarship, I’d sometimes eat less food to get by. Receiving this support reinforces that it is okay to ask for help and that people care for other people. I am so exceptionally thankful for the kindness and generosity of donors. I hope that one day I can return the compassion and goodwill shown to me.”
